My first trip to Hemel

Having met Hazel on our very first day as student nurses, we became good friends very quickly and shared a room in the nurses'home. After a few weeks, Hazel invited me to her parent's home and I'll never forget that day. We arrived at the station, went a few yards out into the road and then Hazel cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled "GORDON" at the top of her voice. To my amazement, a gruff voice answered " Alright, I'm coming" and Gordon appeared as if by magic to take our cases and carry them up to the house! I was made so welcome by her Mum and Dad and Gordon:it really made a difference to me as I lived much further away from the training hospital and couldn't travel home very often. With Hazel and her family I had a home from home. She was a very good friend and I have so many happy memories of time spent together. Thank you Hazel. With much love always. Ann
